New tutorial marketplace from Envato

After a couple of weeks of letting everyone guess what their new marketplace would sell, Envato finally revealed that it is in fact a premium tutorials marketplace. At first this seems a strange choice, given their existing subscription service with the Tuts+ network, but the new marketplace also includes ebooks and “business tutorials” so it’s sure to have a diverse assortment of items rather than endless photomanipulation tutorials.

Why does my small business need a website?

The point of a small corporate website is not really to advertise, it’s not to go out there and grab people by the collar and shout “BUY OUR STUFF!”. Rather, it is to communicate information about your company to the people who are actively looking for it. If I search for “plumber in Paris” I don’t want to see every plumber in a 50 mile radius telling me “we’re the best” “no they’re bad, we’re the best!”.
